FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 21 Nova Southeastern tennis team (1-0, 1-0 SSC) will play back-to-back home matches this weekend, facing NCAA Division I Bethune-Cookman on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and No. 8 Saint Leo on Sunday at 1 p.m.
NSU is looking to continue building momentum, coming off a season-opening win over No. 15 Florida Tech, 6-3. The Sharks won with their depth, taking doubles flights two and three and singles draws two through five.
Charlotte Cote (Jr., Montreal, Canada) led the way, earning wins in the second doubles and fourth singles draw.
NSU will face an unfamiliar opponent in Bethune-Cookman, but expect a tough battle from the DI opponent. However, Saint Leo is expected to be a step up in completion on Sunday. Outside of powerhouses No. 3 Barry and No. 6 Lynn, Saint Leo is the highest ranked SSC team.
Last season, The Sharks and Lions took part in a close match in which NSU fell, 5-4.
Alexandra Johansson (Jr., Sydney, Australia) and
Sabrina Kierberg (So., Berlin, Germany) each earned wins in the top two flights last season against Saint Leo.
