RESULTS

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. –
The No. 21 Nova Southeastern tennis team (1-2, 1-1 SSC) took on one of the nation's top programs in No. 8 Saint Leo (2-0, 1-0 SSC) at home Sunday but lost, 7-2.

"It was a tough match but I'm proud of the way we fought," said head coach Stephen Schram. "Our girls were coming off a long match on Saturday and faced a very good team in Saint Leo. They fought hard despite the result and I'm proud of their effort."

NSU took one win in doubles and another in singles play. The third-flight team of JJuliet Serabian (So., Plantation, Fla.) and Linda Kornienko (So., Fort Myers, Fla.) bounced back from a loss Saturday to beat Paula Montoya and Coralie Pesenti, 8-5. Serabian (6-2, 7-5) and Kornienko (6-2, 6-0) would later fall in singles matches against the Lions.

The Sharks' singles win came from sophomore Sabrina Kierberg (Berlin, Germany). Kierberg moved to 3-0 on the season with a second-draw win over Maria Benkirane, 2-6, 6-4, 10-6.

The Sharks took a loss in the top flight of doubles play, as Laura Kemkes and Pauline Helgesson defeated Kierberg and Iryna Serdyuk (So., Boca Raton, Fla.), 8-1. NSU nearly pulled out an overall doubles win, but the team ofCharlotte Cote (Jr., Montreal, Canada) and Alexandra Johansson (Jr., Sydney, Australia) lost close to Benkirane and Anastisia Wagner, 8-6.

After playing a 4.5 hour match the day before, NSU looked as if they ran out of gas in singles play. Johansson lost to Wagner in the top singles draw, 6-2, 6-3. Carlee Rizzolo (So., Livingston, N.J.) fell to Kemkes, 6-0, 6-0. Rounding out the scores was Cote, who fell in the fourth draw to Montoya, 6-4, 6-4.

NSU will take the week off before playing Tampa on Saturday at home at 11 a.m.
