WINTER PARK, Fla. – The No. 16 Nova Southeastern tennis team (13-10, 3-5 SSC) lost a road match against No. 8 Rollins (14-5, 3-3 SSC), 7-2, in the final regular season match for NSU.
NSU's
Carlee Rizzolo (So., Livingston, N.J.) came up with both wins for the Sharks in the season finale. Rizzolo teamed with NSU ace
Alexandra Johansson (Jr., Sydney, Australia) in the top flight of doubles play to earn NSU's first win, 8-3. In No. 3 singles play, Rizzolo earned her second victory by a score of 7-6, 3-6, 10-7.
"It was a tough loss for us but Rollins is a very good and experienced team," said head coach
Stephen Schram. "Carlee Rizzolo played very well today, as she came up with two very big wins."
In the second doubles draw,
Sabrina Kierberg (So., Berlin, Germany) and
Alex Kaeser (Fr., Woodstock, Ga.) fell, 8-5. In the third, Sophomores
Iryna Serdyuk (Boca Raton, Fla.) and
Linda Kornienko (Fort Myers, Fla.) lost to Rollins, 8-2.
In singles play, Johansson had a tough No. 1 draw in No. 17 Elissa DeCampli. The junior would fall to DeCampli, 6-1, 6-0. In the second draw, Kierberg would fall in three sets, 7-5, 2-6, 10-7. In the fourth draw, Kornienko would be taken down, 6-2, 6-3.
Bianca Roberts (Jr., Tampa, Fla.) competed in the fifth draw, falling, 6-1, 6-2. Finally, Kaeser once again competed in the sixth draw and lost by a score of 6-0, 6-3.
NSU will begin play in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament on April 24 in Winter Park, Fla.
