ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – For the second straight day, the No. 35 Nova Southeastern University tennis team defeated a higher-ranked opponent, this time nearly shutting out No. 30 Flagler on Sunday, 8-1.
The Sharks (2-0), who on Saturday defeated No. 15 Valdosta State, clinched their second consecutive road victory largely due in part to having an unblemished 6-0 mark in singles competition Sunday.
The clean sweep began with a hard-fought three-set win by No. 1
Sabrina Kierberg (Jr., Munich, Germany) over Barbora Sebkova, 6-7 (5), 6-0, 10-5. No. 2
Petra Jurova (Jr., Bratislavia, Slovakia) and No. 3
Francesca Sella (Fr., Carpenedolo, Italy) each only dropped two games in their victories; Jurova going over Esther Santiago 6-0, 6-2, while Sella defeated Thaisa Pereira 6-2, 6-0.

Irina Constantinide (Jr., Galati, Romania) continued the streak with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Mary Jo Nanti. It took an extra game, but No. 5
Alexandra Johansson (Sr., Sydney, Australia) also won in straight sets, against Hanna Goettsching, 7-5, 6-1. And last but not least, No. 6
Carlee Rizzolo (Jr., Livingston, N.J.) took her contest vs. Krista Ingrilli, 6-4, 6-4.
Earlier, in doubles competition, the Sharks won two of three matches. Victorious were the No. 1 team of Kierberg and Jurova, 8-4 against Santiago and Nanti, while NSU's No. 3 combo of Johansson and
Alex Kaeser (So., Woodstock, Ga.) were winners by an 8-1 mark over Ingrilli and Goettsching.
NSU returns home for a makeup contest of their postponed home opener, hosting St. Thomas this upcoming Thursday, Feb. 12. First serve will take place at 3 p.m. against the Bobcats at the NSU Tennis Center at Rolling Hills.
