FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 10 Nova Southeastern University tennis team returns home and aims for their 10th win in a row to start the spring, hosting Division I Butler on Monday afternoon at the NSU Tennis Center.
The Sharks (9-0) are home for the first time since Feb. 19, having most recently swept three matches in as many days while in Orlando for the Spring Break Sports Tournament. The middle contest there was a win over DI Detroit Mercy. They look for another such victory on Monday against Butler, who is 3-9 thus far this season.
In their nine victories, the Sharks are a combined 44-7 in singles and 21-6 in doubles contests.
Petra Jurova (Jr., Bratislava, Slovakia) is 17-0 in both, winning all eight singles matches and all nine in doubles in two different permutations. Also untouched in singles with a perfect 9-0 mark is
Irina Constantinide (Jr., Galati, Romania), while four more single Sharks are either 6-1 or 7-1.
Besides Jurova in doubles, the combination of
Alexandra Johansson (Sr., Sydney, Australia) and
Alex Kaeser (So., Woodstock, Ga.) has been superlative as well, at 8-1 as a unit in the No. 3 slot.
First serve from Rolling Hills will be at 2 p.m. on Monday. It is the first of three straight home matches for the team, with Lynn and St. Edward's coming up a week from Monday (March 16) and the following Wednesday (March 18), respectively.
