Box Score Match ResultsFORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 4 Nova Southeastern University tennis team will take an 18-1 record into postseason play after gaining a 6-3 Senior Day win on Saturday over No. 39 Palm Beach Atlantic at the NSU Tennis Center.
The Sharks took two of three doubles matches and four of six in singles to snap a 10-match win streak by the Sailfish (16-6). Seniors
Charlotte Cote (Montreal, Quebec),
Alexandra Johansson (Sydney, Australia) and
Bianca Roberts (Fort Walden Beach, Fla.) were honored prior to the match and all competed Saturday, combining for three of the six points.
"It was a great day for the seniors and I am so proud of how they competed today," said head coach Stephen Schram. "Alex, Charlotte, and Bianca had great four-year careers and it was awesome working with them for two of their years."
Doubles winners in the finale, both by 8-2 scores, were the No. 1 duo of
Petra Jurova (Jr., Bratislavia, Slovakia) and
Irina Constantinide (Jr., Galati, Romania) and at No. 2, Johansson and her partner
Alex Kaeser (So., Woodstock, Ga.).
Constantinide and
Carlee Rizzolo (Jr., Livingston, N.J.) gained the first two singles points. The former won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2, while the latter was a 6-0, 6-2 victor in the No. 4 slot. Johansson got Saturday's clinching tally, winning her No. 3 match, 6-4, 6-0, while fellow senior Roberts iced the cake with a three-set victory at No. 5 (6-3, 3-6, 10-8).
