Swimming Tallies Ten NCAA B-Cuts In Win Over Florida Southern

Thiago Sickert continues to dominate, winning every race he swam in.

LAKELAND, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University's men's and women's swimming teams traveled to Lakeland and took care of business against the Florida Southern Mocs on Saturday afternoon, winning by a score of 137.5-124.5 on the women's side and 146.5-115.5 on the men's side. NSU combined to swim eight individual and two relay NCAA B-Standard times.
 
In the first event of the day, the women's 400-yard medley relay, Emma Wahlstrom, Malin Westman, Courtney DeVeny and Jordan Shows defeated Fla. Southern's A-team, swimming a time of 3:54.31. The event was followed by the men's 400-medley relay team, consisting of Marco Aldabe, Anton Lobanov, Victor Tarin and Thiago Sickert, who combined to swim a NCAA B-Standard time of 3:19.32.
 
Leading off the individual events was Georgina Allin, swimming a NCAA B-Standard time of 17:36.23 in the women's 1650-yard freestyle. Allin was followed by Blake Woodrow who swam a 16:09.91 to take the win in the men's 1650-free. The next event was the 200-yard freestyle, which was won by Wahlstrom who swam a NCAA B-Standard time of 1:52.94. Victor Tarin followed with a NCAA B-Standard time in the men's 200-free, swimming a time of 1:40.12 to take first place. The Sharks took second and third place in the women's and men's 100-yard backstroke, respectively, as Sydney Panzarino and Marco Aldabe swam times of 1:01.31 and 51.65.
 
In the women's 100-yard breaststroke, Westman lead the field with a time of 1:05.59. She was followed by Anton Lobanov who swam a NCAA B-Standard time of 54.89 to win the men's 100-breast. The Sharks went on the win the women's and men's 200-yard butterfly, as DeVeny and Sickert swam times of 2:10.65 and 1:50.05 (NCAA B-Standard), respectively. In the women's 50-yard freestyle, Sydney Panzarino finished in second with a time of 24.48. She was followed by Julian Coster, who swam a 22.57, marking the highest finish for the Sharks in the men's 50-free.
 
Wahlstrom and Sickert continued their reign on top of each event they swim in, winning the women's and men's 100-yard freestyle with times of 52.42 and 45.89 (NCAA B-Standard), respectively. DeVeny and Aldabe would then finish second in the women's and men's 200-yard backstroke, swimming times of 2:07.74 and 1:50.34, individually. After already winning the 100-breast, Westman and Lobanov went on to win the 200-yard breaststroke. Westman swam a time of 2:22.26 and Lobanov swam a time of 2:01.65. The Sharks went on to win both the women's and men's 500-yard freestyle's, as Allin and Tarin swam times of 5:07.18 and 4:40.19. In the women's 100-yard butterfly, Panzarino finished in second place, swimming a time of 59.70. Panzarino was followed by Sickert who swam a NCAA B-Standard time of 49.14 to take first in the men's 100-fly. DeVeny and Aldabe then won the women's and men's 200-yard individual medley, swimming times of 1:08.50 and 1:53.45.
 
In the final women's event of the day, Shows, Wahlstrom, Panzarino and Caroline Oster swam a time of 1:37.54 in the 200-yard freestyle relay to take second place. Malique Elder, Tarin, David Van Der Colff and Lobanov followed with a win in the men's 200-free relay, swimming a NCAA B-Standard time 1:23.17.
