FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 21 Nova Southeastern women's basketball team will return to the friendly confines of the NSU Arena this weekend to host its annual Thanksgiving Classic, during which it will face off against Valdosta State and Armstrong State.

The Sharks (3-1) will have 2:00 p.m. tipoffs, first against the 2-1 Blazers of VSU on Friday and then will turn around and play 2-3 Armstrong State on Saturday. The Sharks have moved up in the WBCA Coaches Poll to the No. 21 spot but find themselves at No. 19 in the D2SIDA Women's Basketball Media poll, all while maintaining their No. 3 spot in the South Region.

As a team, the Sharks are averaging 70.3 points per game while holding opponent a to 56.8.

Under the direction of first-year coach Carley Kuhns, Valdosta has fallen once this season to SSC member Eckerd. Currently leading the team offensively is Madi Mitchell, scoring 16.3 points per game with a team-high 8.7 boards a game.

Armstrong State was the only team to be unbeaten this past weekend as it hosted its third-annual BJ Ford Classic, knocking off Livingstone College and Barton College. Brigitta Barta is the team's leading scorer, averaging 18.4 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Teammate Machala Raymonville isn't far behind, with 15.4 points.

On Friday, Armstrong will face off against fellow SSC member Palm Beach Atlantic at 4:00 p.m. and on Saturday the Sailfish and the Blazers will play at 4:00 p.m. For a full schedule, team rosters and links to live video and stats, CLICK HERE.
