Box Score MATCH RESULTS
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 7 Nova Southeastern University tennis team hosted neighborhood contenders, No. 39 Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday, Feb. 26. The Sharks frenzy dominated at home, as the Sharks finished 8-1 over the Sailfish.
The battle began with the doubles matches, in which NSU won three out of three. The No. 1 Sharks team
Klaudia Boczova (Jr., Bratislava, Slovakia) and
Carlee Rizzolo (Sr., Livingston, N.J.) took a close victory with a score of 8-6, the No. 2 doubles team,
Petra Jurova (Sr., Bratislava, Slovakia) and
Sabrina Kierberg (Sr., Munich, Germany) also had a narrow win of 9-7; and the No. 3 combo by
Irina Constantinide (Sr., Galati, Romania) and
Nastassia Rubel (Jr., Minsk, Belarus) also won their match 8-2.
The Sharks dominated by winning five out of six singles matches, all by a wide margin except one that was a tie-breaker. Boczovia and Rubel won both of their singles sets 6-0 and lead the Sharks to the decisive win. No. 36 nationally ranked Kierberg also impressed the coaches and spectators with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in her respective singles match. Also nationally ranked, No. 27 Jurova finished early with a 6-3, 6-0 scores. Rizzolo won her singles match in tie-breaker, which ended 6-1, 3-6 (10-7).
No. 39 PBA women's tennis worked hard to keep up with NSU women's tennis and in the end was able to take one match from the Sharks.
NSU women's tennis will now have a few days to rest and prepare for their west coast tour, which starts Tuesday, Mar. 2 when they face No. 31 Point Loma State in San Diego, Calif.
