Day One Results
 
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Nova Southeastern University swimming and diving team completed the first day of the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships with the men's 200-yard medley relay team earning the Sharks' first medal of the event with a third place finish in the finals.
 
The men's 200-yard medley relay set a new NSU record time of 1:27.11 to claim third in the final race. The team consisted of David Van Der Colff (Fr., Gaborone, Botswana), Anton Lobanov (So., Novosibirisk, Russia), Victor Tarin (Jr., Godelleta, Spain) and Thiago Sickert (Jr., Vila Velha, Brazil).
 
The Sharks' highest individual finisher was Sickert who earned All-American status after claiming fifth in the 50-yard freestyle breaking the new NSU record he set earlier in the day during prelims with a time of 19.80.
 
In the first event of the night, All-American Marco Aldabe (Jr., Alicante, Spain) took sixth in the final 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:47.95. Blake Woodrow swam the last heat of the 1000-yard freestyle also taking sixth in the heat with a time of 9:16.30, which earned him 11^th overall in the event.
 
In the women's 200 IM, Malin Westman (So., Harrdya, Sweden) was just edged out of first place in the consolation final as she came in second in 2:03.86. The team of Westman, Courtney DeVeny (So., Estero, Fla.), Jordan Shows (So., Alta Loma, Calif.) and Sydney Panzarino (So., Bradenton, Fla.) finished fifth in the 200 medley relay consolation final, 13^th overall, putting up a time of 1:44.12.

Day One Prelim Recap

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Nova Southeastern University swimming and diving team will have three individuals and one relay advance to the first night of finals at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday evening.
 
Marco Aldabe (Jr., Alicante, Spain) was the first Shark to earn a spot in tonight's finals as he set a new NSU record in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:47.85. He was followed by Thiago Sickert (Jr., Vila Velha, Brazil) who broke his own school record in the 50-yard freestyle to secure the fourth seed in tonight's final with a time of 19.84.
 
The men's 200-yard medley relay tied the Sharks record time of 1:28.52 to advance to the final race this evening. The team consists of David Van Der Colff (Fr., Gaborone, Botswana), Anton Lobanov (So., Novosibirisk, Russia), Victor Tarin (Jr., Godelleta, Spain) and Sickert.
 
The fourth competitor will be sophomore Blake Woodrow (Fort Myers, Fla.) who will be in the fifth position in the 1000-yard freestyle tonight.
 
Malin Westman (So., Harryda, Sweden) will represent the women in the 200 IM consolation finals as she put up a prelim time of 2:04.30. She will be joined by Courtney DeVeny (So., Estero, Fla.), Jordan Shows (So., Alta Loma, Calif.) and Sydney Panzarino (So., Bradenton, Fla.) in the 200 medley relay consolation final after the team had a morning swim of 1:43.82.
