Biggest Clash of Regular Season Between No. 7 NSU and No. 3 Saint Leo Women’s Tennis

Sharks play host to the Sunshine State Conference leaders

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 7 Nova Southeastern University women's tennis team (15-1, 6-0 SSC) will have home advantage versus Sunshine State Conference frontrunner No. 3 Saint Leo (16-1, 6-0 SSC) on Sunday, April 17 at 10 a.m. at the NSU Tennis Center at Rolling Hills.

During the 2014-15 season the Sharks and the Lions had two matchups, which concluded in an overall split as the Sharks won one and lost the second one. The earlier match of 2015 was on March 1, which the Sharks took by a narrow margin on 5-4 in St. Leo, Fla. The later of the two was the SSC postseason tournament semifinals in Saint Leo territory, where the Sharks dropped the match by a score of 5-1.

The Sharks and the Lions will face each other again on Sunday morning in what points out to be the most significant match of the regular season as it will define which team takes full reign of the conference leadership. NSU is coming to the matchup with great momentum as they currently hold a 15-match winning streak and a perfect record in the SSC. The most recent victory was in Daytona Beach, Fla. where the Sharks swept the Embry-Riddle Eagles 5-0.

League leaders Saint Leo have one more game in hand compared to the Sharks and are also unbeaten in SSC competition. The Lions most recently defeated No. 40 Florida Southern at home by a clean margin of 9-0. If you are in South Florida on Sunday, this is a match you cannot miss.

Prior to meeting the Sharks on Sunday, the Lions will have to face the No. 29 Florida Tech Panthers in Kissimmee, Fla. on Saturday afternoon.

After all battles are defined at the Shark Tank on Sunday, the Sharks will prepare for their last regular season matchup against the No. 2 Barry Bucs at home on Thursday, April 21.
