FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Making its return to the NSU Soccer Complex Saturday night, Nova Southeastern will look to end its two-game skid in a Sunshine State Conference clash against No. 21 Tampa.
The Sharks dropped their conference opener 1-0 on the road at Florida Southern just two days prior, despite winning the battle in both corner kicks and shots on goal. Knotted up in a scoreless battle, Florida Southern's Joseph Ammer notched the eventual game-winner in the 72
nd minute to help the Moc's improve to 3-1 on the year.
Nova Southeastern has been blanked in each of its last two contests, but will likely need someone on the offensive side of the ball to step up to keep pace with a Tampa team that has been clicking on all cylinders through its first four matches.
After tallying four goals apiece against two of its first three opponents, Tampa took its explosive offense to another level by hanging eight in its dominant shutout victory at Warner this past Tuesday. Led by sophomore Fredinho Mompremier, seven different players tallied at least one goal in the effort as the Spartans peppered 15 shots on target as opposed to just two by the Royals.
Mompremier recorded four goals a year ago, but has already surpassed his entire 2015 total with five goals and one assist for the SSC's most potent attack (4.5 goals per game).
Tampa is the first of four currently ranked programs NSU will face in 2016.
