FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women's basketball team continues Sunshine State Conference play at home this Wednesday as it hosts Rollins College at 5:30 p.m. in the NSU Arena. The Tars are currently 8-5 overall and an even 3-3 in league play, and sit just one spot below the Sharks in the SSC rankings at fifth place.
NSU, coming off a 70-63 loss to the Florida Southern Moccasins, sits at 9-6 on the overall season and is 5-2 against SSC opponents. In the loss,
Maria Bardeeva, who came off the bench, and
Megan Piggott shared in a team-leading 15 points each. For Bardeeva, it marked a new career-high on a perfect 6-of-6 from the field and 3-of-3 at the line. They were joined in double digits by
Amanda Tivenius, who was also 6-of-6 from the field with 12 points total, and
Samantha Logan, who was a rebound short of a double-double, tallying 10 points and nine boards.
Piggott holds the eighth spot in the conference and leads the Sharks with 13.0 points a game after scoring double-figures in NSU's last seven games.
Christen Prasse also averages double-figures with 11.2 and leads the league in assists with 4.8 a game. Logan continues to stay at the top of the rebounding list, averaging a conference-leading 9.5 boards per game and 7.0 defensive rebounds per game average. The senior has collected 26 more defensive rebounds than the second-ranked player in the SSC.
