FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.  – After starting the year with their first six matches on the road, the Nova Southeastern University women's tennis team (4-3, 2-1 SSC) finally returned to their home courts for the first time in 2017. First-year head coach Doug Neagle picked up his first win at the NSU Tennis Complex as the No. 15 Sharks defeated the Rollins Tars (4-4, 2-2 SC) 5-4 in their home opener on Saturday afternoon.  

The Sharks to an early advantage over the visiting Tars winning two of the three doubles match-ups. Nastassia Rubel and Simone Pratt got the Sharks on the board first with an 8-4 win over Shannon Etten and Alexandra Borg at No. 2 doubles. The duo remains undefeated on the season improving to 7-0 on the season.  

Rollins took No. 3 doubles 8-6 over NSU's Eva Agasse and Alex Kaeser to even the score, but the Sharks broke the tie with a win at the top doubles flight. Luicelena Perez and Isabella Lowrey extended their win streak to six after defeating RC's Fabiana Vitanza and Carlye Goldman, 8-6.  

Rollins' Teresa Kaiser took the first singles match-up at No. 6 singles to even the match at 2-2. Rubel regained the lead for the Sharks with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Carlye Goldman at No. 3 singles. The Sharks would secure the win after Luicelena Perez and Simone Pratt picked up wins in No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Perez remained undefeated in singles after a win over Fabiana Vitanza, 6-1, 6-2, while Pratt kept her win streak alive with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Shannon Etten at the second flight.  

The Sharks will be back in action at the NSU Tennis Complex on Monday, March 6 when they host the Toledo Rockets at 2:00 pm.
