HOW IT HAPPENED

DOUBLES:
  • The duo of Isabella Lowrey and Ana Navas wasted no time putting the Sharks on the board, blanking Mariah Bastos and Victoria Slavina, 8-0, at No. 2.
  • Eva Agasse and Alex Yeardley soon followed suit with yet another 8-0 shutout victory, defeating Natdelyis de Armas Acosta and Cynthia Diaz at No. 3.
  • Already in front 2-0, No. 11 Andrea Ivanovic and Daniela Obando capped the clean sweep for the Sharks following an 8-2 triumph in the top slot over Andrea Gonzalez and Cassandra Lemieux.

SINGLES:
  • The Bobcats erased the shutout after a default at No. 6, however, Navas quickly regained the momentum for Nova Southeastern by growing the lead to 4-1 with an overpowering 6-1, 6-1 victory over Slavina in the top spot.
  • Soon after, Ivanovic clinched win No. 8 on the year for the Sharks by routing Lemieux at No. 2 singles by a final score of 6-0, 6-1.
  • Yeardley would continue the scoring spree, knocking off Diaz, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4.
  • The margin ballooned to 7-1 thanks to a 6-3, 6-1 win for Obando against Gonzalez at No. 3 before Lowrey provided the exclamation point at No. 5, raking down Acosta 6-3, 6-1.

NEAGLE'S NOTES:
"We executed very well today, and have now performed very well the last two matches. We were happy to send off Andrea (Ivanovic) and Nastassia (Rubel) with a victory. I feel these last few wins will give us the confidence we need going into the conference tournament next weekend."

UP NEXT:
The Sharks await the result of the Florida Southern and Florida Tech match tomorrow, which will decide their opponent in the Sunshine State Conference quarterfinals, set to start on Thursday, Apr. 19. If the Panthers win, the Sharks face No. 2 seed Lynn, but if the Moccasins win, the Sharks will draw Saint Leo, who currently owns the third spot.
