CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Opening up competition in the 2019 Sheraton Le Meridien Fall Frenzy Invite hosted by Queens University of Charlotte, the Nova Southeastern swim teams saw a promising start to the three-day event, winning two events and posting 12 NCAA B-Standard times throughout the course of the day. After day one, the men sit in third place out of 13 teams while the women are fourth out of 16 teams.
INSIDE THE MEET:
DAY ONE WOMEN'S STANDINGS: Nova Southeastern Sharks (640 points) – 4th Place out of 16

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Both the women's A-Relay (Cassandra Wright, Hannah Trieschmann, Laurel Fink and Jenna John) and B-Relay (Amilia Nusbaum, Solana Capalbo, Kaylee Gassen and Cailey Friel) placed in the Top-6 in the 200 freestyle relay, posting times of 1:34.47 and 1:35.56, respectively.
- The men's A-Relay made up of Alec Dawson, Magnus Poulsen, Martin Hemminghyth and Jonathan Yanello grabbed third place in the 200 freestyle relay, recording a time of 1:21.25, just .05 seconds away from a provisional time.
- In the 400 medley relay, the women's A-Relay which featured Wright, Friel, Sasha Maslova and Johns, took home the gold with their NCAA provisional time of 3:52.37. Wright's leadoff split of 54.51 was a program record.
TOP INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS:
- Emma Sundstedt earned the first individual win for the Sharks in the 500 freestyle, finishing with an NCAA B-cut time of 4:55.63, her second of the day after registering one in the morning's preliminaries.
- Sasha Maslova and Aleksei Averchenko both finished second in the 200 IM, posting B-Cut times of 2:02.76 and 1:50.35. Alessandro Xella also placed fourth in the event in 1:51.35.
- Jenna Johns took third place in the 50 free, notching a time of 23.58. This was also her second NCAA B-cut time of the day. Wright's time of 23.67 was also her second B-Standard time and good enough for sixth place.

The three-day meet continues on Saturday morning, with prelims starting at 9:30 a.m. and finals at 5:00 p.m.
