Suka Van Gurp has been named the Sunshine State Conference's Player of the Week, as announced on Monday afternoon by the conference office.
The Curacao native accounted for twelve runs across the four games with eight runs batted in and four runs scored. The senior for the week went 4-for-11, drew one walk, and had three extra-base hits including two home runs.
For the week, Van Gurp posted a .364 batting average, .385 on base percentage and a 1.091 slugging percentage. Defensively, she recorded a 1.000 fielding percentage, making 11 putouts and six assists, the second most on the team over the four-game span.
The 6-4 Sharks will open SSC play this upcoming weekend as they travel to Lakeland, Fla. to take on the Florida Southern Moccasins in a three-game series beginning on Friday, Feb. 16 at 6:00 p.m.
