HOW IT HAPPENED:
Back in the lineup for the first time since Apr. 13, Acevedo didn't wait long to make an impact, tagging a no-doubt homer on the second pitch of the ball game.
Samuel Duran added to the fast start, too, lacing a liner into center to hand the Sharks a 2-0 cushion in the bottom of the first.
One inning later, Nova Southeastern built the advantage to 6-0 thanks to an
Andrew Labosky RBI-single, before Wolforth launched his second big fly in as many games with a deep shot to right center.
As Pastore racked up the zeroes, the offense kept producing, tacking on two more runs in the fourth. A
Christian Demby sacrifice fly extended the margin to 7-0 until
Bryan Diaz plated Wolforth with a double off the wall in left.
Florida Southern erased the shutout in the top of the fifth thanks to a pair of home runs by Christian Maglich and Zach Scott. Pastore would settle back in, though, posting a scoreless sixth before handing the ball over to
Gil Torres in the seventh.
Together, both Torres and
JP Williams would toss a combined three hitless innings to slam the door shut on the series sweep.
STATS OF THE NIGHT
- With a stolen base in the sixth inning, Wolforth now has 10 on the season, making him the only player in the Sunshine State Conference with double-digit home runs and stolen bases.
