FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern softball team busted out the brooms on Wednesday evening, taking two from the Lynn Fighting Knights to clinch the series sweep. The Sharks used six innings to earn an 8-0 walk-off run rule victory before topping Lynn, 3-1, in the series finale.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP (GAME ONE – 6 INN.):

HOW IT HAPPENED:
BOTTOM 1ST | Unlike Tuesday evening's game, the Sharks took no time reaching the board as an RBI-single to center by
Stephanie Wang scored
Tia Williams, who reached on an error by Lynn's first baseman.
BOTTOM 2ND | NSU doubled their lead the next inning, grabbing a 2-0 advantage. After
Sydney Lageyre stole second,
Kayla Kight singled up the middle to plate her.
BOTTOM 4TH | Back-to-back singles by Alex Suxuki and Lageyre put NSU in scoring position before a throwing error by Lynn's pitcher allowed both baserunners to score and Kight to make it to third. The next batter, Williams, made it 5-0 in NSU's favor with a sacrifice fly, scoring Kight.
BOTTOM 6TH | Once again, Suzuki and Lageyre led off the inning with back-to-back hits, a double and a single, respectively, putting runners on the corners. After Lageyre stole second, the Fighting Knights failed to catch Suzuki in a rundown that ensued off a bunt laid down by Kight, allowing her to score, Lageyre to advance to third and Kight make it to second. A wild pitch brought home Lageyre to make it 7-0 before a dropped fly ball by the Lynn shortstop gave Kight enough time to cross the plate for the walk-off 8-0 run rule win.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Suzuki was 2-for-2, scoring twice, while Lageyre was 2-for-3 and scored three times.
- Kight was 1-for-4 with two RBI and Miriam Schmoll, Wang and Storrer were all 1-for-3.
- Suka Van Gurp was walked twice.
- Storrer earned the win for NSU, tossing 4.0 innings and allowing no runs on three hits. Schmoll closed out the final 3.0 innings, allowing no runs on one hit.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- With 22 wins on the season, the Sharks have officially surpassed their win total from 2018.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP (GAME TWO):

HOW IT HAPPENED:
BOTTOM 1ST | With two outs on the board and Williams at second, Schmoll singled to left field to bring her home, tallying NSU's first run of the game.
BOTTOM 3RD | With Williams at third and Van Gurp at second base,
Keeley Mayers sent a ball to deep right center, scoring both base runners to bring the score to 3-0 in NSU's favor.
TOP 6TH | The Fighting Knights scored their lone run of the series in the sixth, taking advantage of a Sharks error, bringing the final score to 6-1.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Mayers was 1-for-3 with her two RBI while Williams was 1-for-3 and score twice.
- Schmoll, Storrer and Lageyre were all also 1-for-3.
- Storrer picked up her second win of the night, once again spending 4.0 innings in the circle, allow no runs on three hits with five strikeouts. Schmoll came in again for the remaining 3.0 innings, allowing one run on two hits with five strikeouts.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- NSU's combined 10 strikeouts were the most handed to an opposing team since Mar. 18, 2017 against Bemidji State (11).
- Today's two wins brings the overall series between Lynn and NSU to 49-30-1.
