MIRAMAR, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women's and men's track and field teams closed out the 2021 regular season on Saturday with the South Florida Challenge #4 at the Ansin Sports Complex. The Sharks celebrated 13 seniors prior to the event and both teams finished fourth overall in the eight-team field.

FIELD EVENTS
As she has performed all season, senior
Jaylynne Thomas came through for the Sharks on Saturday, winning the dicus with a toss of 36.67m (120-3), as well as the shot put with a mark of 11.39m (37-4.5). Classmate
Riley Pardo-Duffin also finished third in the shot put at 6.51m (21-4.25).
In the men's discus, senior
Spencer Ochko topped collegiate performers with a second-place finish toss of 39.11m (128-3).
At the javelin runway,
Carly Rothert earned second place with a throw of 27.46m (90-1), also earning the top spot in the high jump with a leap of 1.50m (4-11). On the men's side of the javelin, senior
Nadiv Galindo was second overall at 40.77m (133-9).
In horizontal jumps, senior
Abderazek Azlag was the top collegiate finisher behind a pair of unattached performers with a leap of 6.42m (21-0.75).
Rounding out the field events, senior
Quynlan Duffy finished just behind former Shark Ian Towne with the top collegiate finishing height of 3.50m (11-5.75).
RUNNING EVENTS
In the women's 1500m,
Ivanova Yanes narrowly trailed Palm Beach Atlantic's Abigail Bateman, finishing second in a time of 4:53.29. In men's distance,
Aaron Weimer came in third in the 5000m at 16:57.36.
UP NEXT
The next date on the schedule is April 30-May 1, as NSU's field of qualifiers head north to Daytona Beach for the Peach Belt Championships.
