Sharks Welcome Peters to 2021-22 Squad

Peters represents the second Division I transfer to join the NSU roster

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The 2021-22 Nova Southeastern women's basketball roster continues to grow with the addition of McKenah Peters, a 5-9 graduate-transfer guard from Youngstown State.

"McKenah is a great fit for our style of play due to her strong work ethic, high basketball IQ and growth mindset," explained head coach LeAnn Freeland-Curry. "She has played big minutes at Youngstown for three seasons and that experience, along with her skill set, will be invaluable as she transitions into our program. Offensively, McKenah has great range from three, attacks strong off the dribble and sees the floor well. Defensively, she is quick and strong which enables her to defend multiple positions. We expect her to be a high-impact player for us for the 2021-2022 season."

As a senior at Youngstown (2020-21), Peters started all 18 games, averaging 31.8 minutes per game and 9.2 points per game after shooting 38 percent from the field and 35 percent from three-point range. She also averaged 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.

During her junior year, she was honored as the program's Belleria Struthers Team Impact Player of the Year, putting together the best offensive campaign of her career, setting career-bests with 10.6 points per game and a .389 field-goal percentage. Additionally, she totaled 266 points, 128 rebounds and 31 assists, ranking second on the team in points and rebounds per game (5.1).

"McKenah is very strong academically and will be pursuing her graduate degree in Sport Science at NSU," added Freeland-Curry. "Our coaching staff and players are excited to announce McKenah Peters is a Shark."
