HOW IT HAPPENED
Jeremy Cook got the starting nod for the Sharks in the Sunday tilt and came out firing, striking out the first two Felician hitters he faced in the game. Tyler Epstein worked a lead-off walk and then came around to score on an opposite field home run by Nik Sanders – the first of his Sharks career – to give the Sharks a 2-0 lead. Later in the frame, Kolbe Aven doubled down the left field line to drive in Daniel Irisarri and Michael Avendano to extend the lead to 4-0. The Sharks capped off the inning by batting through the lineup, as Bryce Hazzard single in Aven.
Cook tallied three more strikeouts in the top of the second inning, working around a one-out single. NSU added three more runs in the bottom of the second, scoring two on an opposite-field home run from Irisarri.
Felician broke through in the top of the fourth, scoring a run on an RBI single to center field. Sanders doubled to left field, scoring Epstein, and extending the Sharks lead to 9-1.
Ryan Bradarich relieved Cook in the top of the sixth inning, allowing two runs following a Sharks error. NSU's offense erupted in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs in an inning for the second time on the day. Hazzard singled up the middle to score Michael Uz, Sanders added a single to plate Aven, and Jarrett Hall cleared the bases with a three-run double down the left field line to put the score at 14-3.
Michael Uz added a two-run home run, his first of the season, to extend the Sharks' advantage to 16-3. NSU added another run, and took the series sweep over Felician with a 17-4 lead.
