#2 Sharks Fall Against #1 Bucs in SSC Title

Box Score BRADENTON, Fla. – The second-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Women's Tennis team was defeated 5-2 in the Sunshine State Conference Championship by No. 1 Barry on Saturday afternoon. The Sharks gave a strong effort in the conference title tilt, pushing two matches to three sets. NSU's 10 match winning streak comes to an end, but Nova Southeastern will advance to the NCAA South Region Tournament.

How it Happened 
Doubles
  • Nova Southeastern earned the doubles point, setting the tone with early momentum. Julie Razafindranaly and Karolina Snita opened the match with a 6-2 victory over Pichler and Wang.
  • Fatima Bizhukova and Natalie Espinal, the top-ranked duo in NCAA Division II, battled against the second-ranked tandem of Farfan and Khazan, as the Sharks pair won their contest 6-2.
 
Singles
  • Razafindranaly was defeated by Khazan [6-4, 6-3]
  • Diane Follin-Arbelet gave the Sharks a 2-1 lead in the match, defeating Pichler [6-3, 6-4] out of the No. 5 spot.
  • Snita dropped her championship match [6-4, 6-3]
  • Espinal battled for three-sets against Alloiarova, but unfortunately dropped the contest [6-1, 4-6, 3-6]
  • The match ended following Bizhukova's match against Wang, as the Bucs won the Sunshine State Conference title.
