FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The NCAA announced the field for the 2023 Division II Women's Tennis National Championship on Monday evening. The second-ranked Sharks were selected to host a NCAA Regional Tournament for the second consecutive season and advanced to compete in the national tournament for the fourth straight season under Head Coach
Doug Neagle.
On May 1-2, the field of 48 will play in a single elimination tournament to determine the 16-team grouping at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
No. 2 NSU (21-3) is led by the top-ranked duo in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association,
Fatima Bizhukova and
Natalie Espinal. The Sharks enter the South Region Tournament playing exceptionally well and have won 10-of-11 matches, dating back to March 23. NSU advanced to the Sunshine State Conference Championship match.
"It is so nice to be able to host the NCAA South Region Tournament," stated Negale. "The girls worked hard, and it is a testament to the effort they've shown all season long. Now it's time to put in the work as we pursue our goals."
No. 2 Nova Southeastern will play seventh-seed West Florida in the first round, while welcoming third-seed Saint Leo and sixth-seed Auburn-Montgomery to the NSU
Tennis Complex at Rolling Hills for the South Region Tournament. The tournament begins on May 1 and will conclude on May 2. The winner will advance to the final site at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
