FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The 10th-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks will serve as host for the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament after being named the second seed on Monday evening. The NCAA First and Second Rounds will commence at the NSU Soccer Stadium.
The Sharks are coming off a thrilling victory in the SSC Championship, as they defeated Florida Tech 6-5 in penalty kicks to secure the first tournament title in program history. Sunday's victory marked the first time the Sharks captured both the SSC regular-season and tournament championships. Alexa Bereczki scored the game-winning goal and was named the SSC Tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Bereczki was joined on the All-Tournament Team by teammates Genesis Hernandez, Kajsa Lang, Maria Jansen and Ella Niemela.
Nova Southeastern will play host to two teams, which is comprised of members from the Gulf South Conference.
The number three-seeded Lee University Flames will take on six-seeded Montevallo on November 21st at the NSU Soccer Stadium. The winner of that match will face the number two-seeded Nova Southeastern Sharks on Sunday, November 23rd, with the time TBA.
Sunday's championship cemented a season full of highs for the Sharks, as Sofia Suarez was named SSC Offensive Player of the Year and Lang was named Defensive Player of the Year. Oliwia Loeman won Co-Freshman of the Year, and head coach Amy Vaughan was voted Coach of the Year by her peers.
