ORLANDO, Fla. - The 14th-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks were highlighted on Tuesday, as four players earned All-Sunshine State Conference recognition.
Taydra Simpson,
Kaliyah Morales,
Bridie McCann and
Markayla Holland were all awarded with honors.
Taydra Simpson was named the 2025-26 SSC Defensive Player of the Year. Simpson's season highlights include breaking and setting a new program record with 10 steals in a game against Barry (February 4, 2026), and then tying her own record a week later with 10 more steals against Lynn (February 11). Simpson is currently averaging 10.6 points, 4.7 boards, 3.1 steals (third in SSC) and 1.2 blocks per game (third in SSC).
Kaliyah Morales was named Second Team All-SSC after posting averages of 14.6 points, 3.7 assists and 2.7 rebounds per contest. She scored a season-high 29 points and four assists against Barry, her former school, on February 4, 2026. Morales adds this honor to her resume after being named Freshman of the Year last year and being named to the All-SSC Third Team.
Bridie McCann joined Morales on the All-SSC Second Team. The Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania native's highlights include a 29-point performance against Embry-Riddle on December 6th on the way to being named the D2/CoSIDA National Player of the Week. She also hit a clutch three-pointer to force overtime against Palm Beach Atlantic on January 24th to help the Sharks win their 19th consecutive game. McCann is averaging 14.1 points, 2.8 boards, 2.6 assists and has hit 37% of her three-point attempts. She has hit four or more three-pointers in 11 games thus far.
Markayla Holland was named to the All-SSC Defensive Team, along with Simpson. Holland, who is coming off a career-high 31 points against Palm Beach Atlantic in the SSC Quarterfinals, led the SSC in steals with 3.3 per game. She recorded a season-high seven pilfers against the Eagles on February 18, 2026. She is averaging 11.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
