TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced its 2025 Division II Women's National and Regional Award winners. National honors include ITA Coach of the Year, Assistant Coach of the Year, Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award, Rookie of the Year, Senior Player of the Year, and Player to Watch. Nova Southeastern's Katja Markus was named the ITA Division II Rookie of the Year, establishing herself as one of the top players in NCAA Division II during her debut season with the Sharks. Markus, ranked among the top 50 nationally in singles, compiled a 14-9 record and won nine consecutive matches from March 3 through April 3.
In doubles play, Markus has been even more dominant, earning the No. 1 national ranking while posting an impressive 28-3 record alongside Kristyna Hranacova.
Markus and the third-seeded Sharks will begin play at the NCAA National Tournament on Tuesday, May 19, facing 14th-seeded Slippery Rock at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Arizona.
