SURPRISE, Ariz. – The third-seeded Nova Southeastern University women's tennis team is set to face sixth-seeded Augustana (S.D.) in the quarterfinals of the 2026 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship on Wednesday, May 20. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. (EDT) at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Arizona. The winner of the matchup will advance to the semifinals.
The Sharks (19-7) enter the quarterfinal after defeating 14th-seeded Slippery Rock, 4-1, on Tuesday afternoon. NSU quickly secured the doubles point with wins from the pairs of Kristyna Hranacova/Katja Markus and Jana Boegner/Priscila Janikian before taking three singles courts behind victories from Boegner, Noemie Dadoun and Amina Sagadiyeva. The Sharks are making their fifth consecutive appearance in the national quarterfinal round.
NSU is no stranger to Augustana (SD), having faced the Vikings twice in program history, both under head coach Doug Neagle. The Sharks won each meeting, first in 2024 (4-0) and again earlier this season (4-1). In this year's matchup, NSU secured the doubles point and earned singles victories from Hranacova, Chloe Henderson and Dadoun.
Augustana (22-2) enters the championship on a 12-match winning streak, including a conference tournament title. The Vikings have not dropped a match since their loss to the Sharks earlier this season. In the Round of 16, Augustana defeated 11th-seeded Midwestern State, 4-0, to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time in program history.
Leading the way for Augustana is Rhidaim Yang, who has been a dominant force in the Vikings' lineup throughout the season, compiling an 18-0 record while providing a reliable presence in both singles and doubles competition. In doubles, Yang teams with Smilte Bakyte to form one of Augustana's top pairings (17-4), combining aggressive play and an 8-2 mark in their last 10 matches.
