FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The #NSU50 "Top Moments in NSU Athletics History" continues with the seventh moment on the list: Nova helps form the Florida Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
1990
In 1990, Nova University helped form a major NAIA conference with the following schools: Flagler College, Webber College, St. Thomas University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Palm Beach Atlantic College, Warner Southern College and Florida Memorial College. The conference would later be renamed, the Florida Sun Conference. They league is currently named The Sun Conference and has five of its original members.
Chris Todd was NSU's first standout athlete in the brand new conference, earning the inaugural FSC Baseball Player of the Year award. Nova would go on to be a powerhouse in the Florida Sun Conference throughout the 1990's and up until the Sharks left for the NCAA in 2002. The Knights won 26 conference championships and 19 conference player of the year honors.
