FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (November 19, 2006) - Kristin Hemminger scored 19 of her 21 points in the first half as Florida Tech (2-1) defeated Nova Southeastern (0-2) by a score of 77-70 on Sunday afternoon.
In game three of the NSU/Marriot Tip-Off Classic, NSU took a 38-35 lead into the locker room at halftime but foul trouble and cold second half shooting made it difficult for the Sharks to hold the lead. NSU shot 60.9 percent from the field in the first half but 36 percent in the second frame.
NSU had four players score in double figures led by guard Mechelle Jones (Sr., Rockledge, Fla.) who registered 18 points to go along with five rebounds. Center Fabienne Bain (Jr., Quebec, Canada) tallied 16 points along with seven boards and three blocks.
Despite losing the game, the Sharks outrebounded Florida Tech 34-22.
To go along with Hemminger's 21 points, guard Jennifer Tamilio scored 20 points for the Panthers.
NSU will be back in action on Wednesday, November 22 as they travel to Valdosta, Ga. to take on the Valdosta State Blazers. Fans will be able to listen to the game on the NSU Athletics Audiocast Network
