FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (December 02, 2006) - Nova Southeastern (1-3) broke a 58-58 tie on a lay-up by Jennifer Havens and proceeded to finish on a 17-9 run over the final six minutes of the game to win 75-67 over Saint Augustine's College on Saturday afternoon in the University Center Arena.
NSU opened up the game on a 10-0 run and entered the half leading 42-30. Saint Augustine's would go on a 16-7 run seven minutes into the second half to even the score at 58-58 before the Sharks would pull away for the 75-67 victory. Nova Southeastern held the lead the enter game, except for the brief moment where the score was tied in the second half.
NSU was led by guard Amber Bishko (Jr., Orlando, Fla.) who scored 20 points while shooting 9-14 from the floor. Guard Mechelle Jones (Sr., Rockledge, Fla.) followed with 16 points and six rebounds. Forward Jennifer Havens (Sr., Ontario, Ore.) also scored in double-figures, with 11 points on 5-5 shooting.
The Sharks shot 52.6% (30-57) for the game while holding Saint Augustine's to 44.2 % (23-52). NSU was 4-12 from long range and 11-16 from the charity stripe. Nova Southeastern out-rebounded Saint Augustine's 34-25, including nine to five on the offensive boards.
