FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (January 17, 2007) - Forward Jennifer Havens (Sr., Ontario, Ore.) scored 18 points and guard Mechelle Jones (Sr., Rockledge, Fla.) added 15 points and seven boards as Nova Southeastern (5-11, 4-2 SSC) defeated the Lynn Fighting Knights (10-5, 2-3 SSC) by a score of 62-58 on Wednesday night.

In the first half, the Sharks went into the locker room, leading 29-23 after holding Lynn to a 27.6 shooting percentage.

The Knights led early on, 7-4, until a layup by center Fabienne Bain (Jr., Quebec, Canada) sparked a 25-16 run over the rest of the frame despite Lynn shooting 12 free throws to the Sharks' two.

In the second half, Lynn regrouped to take a 37-36 lead with 15:26 remaining courtesy of a layup by forward Crystal Ahmed. 30 seconds later, however, Ahmed would pick up a technical foul after arguing an offensive foul call. Havens promptly hit both free throws, giving NSU a lead they would not relinquish.

For NSU, the victory marked the first back-to-back victories this season after defeating Eckerd College on Saturday.

Havens' 18 points included an 8-8 performance from the free throw line, while Jones' 15 points came while shooting 3-6 from downtown. After struggling from behind the arc for most of the season, Jones has shot 7-13 from long range in the last two games, good for 53.8 percent.

Reserve guard Brittany Green (Jr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) also had her best performance of the season, scoring seven points to go along with eight rebounds, two blocks and three assists.

NSU will be back in action on Saturday, January 20 at 5:30pm as they host the Florida Tech Panthers at the University Center Arena.
