RALEIGH, N.C. (December 17, 2007) - SSC Player of the Week Stephanie Sarosi (So., Mims, Fla.) recorded 17 points and her first career double-double and Amber Bishko (Sr., Orlando, Fla.) and Christine Haber (Sr., Libertyville, Ill.) added 15 points and 10 rebounds, respectively as the Nova Southeastern Sharks (5-3) defeated the Saint Augustine's Lady Falcons (6-3) by a score of 77-70 on Monday evening at Saint Augustine's Emery Gymnasium.
The Sharks led by as much as 14 with 16:27 left but the Falcons scratched and clawed their way to a one-point game, 71-70 with 1:29 remaining. The Sharks, though, would go on to score six unanswered points, four of which came on free throws, to close out the game.
The difference in the game was free throws as Saint Augustine's went 8-of-19 from the charity stripe while the Sharks took advantage of their chances and went 20-of-25 from the free throw line. Leading that charge was Bishko who went 7-of-7 from the line en route to her 15-point effort.
As Sarosi and Haber both collected 10 rebounds, the Sharks outrebounded the Falcons 53-41.
Chanel Kinard led Saint Augustine's with 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting while Brittany Parker and Erica Knox finished with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
NSU will return to action on Friday, December 28 as it will travel to Barry University to participate in the Barry Holiday Classic. On day one, the Sharks will face the Bentley College Falcons at 4 PM at Barry's Health and Sports Center. The game can be heard live on the NSU Athletics Audiocast Network.
