#3 Ranked Nova Southeastern Men Capture 2007 SSC Golf Championship

NSU Freshman Eric Cole Finishes 2nd Overall as Sharks Shoot Tournament-low Round of 294 on Final Day

VIERA, Fla. (April 17, 2007) - The #3 ranked Nova Southeastern University men's golf team took home their second Sunshine State Conference men's golf championship in the past three years, at the Duran Golf Club in Viera, Fla on Tuesday afternoon.

NSU freshman Eric Cole (Orlando, Fla.) finished second overall, two strokes off the lead, shooting 76-73-71 for a 220 total over 54-holes of play at the par 72 - 7,127-yard course.

Nova Southeastern (302-305-294=901) carded a 294, the low round of the tournament, to rally from a three-way tie for third-place with Barry and Lynn and capture the team championship by three strokes over host Florida Tech (301-302-301=904).

Joining Cole for the victorious Sharks were Constantin Schwierz (So., Tegernsee, Germany) who finished tied for 8th (77-75-74-226), Peter Kolosvary (Fr., Safety Harbor, Fla.) who was tied for 17th, (72-78-81-231), Greg O'Mahony (Tequesta, Fla.) who tied for 23rd (82-81-70-233) and Michael Davenport (Sr., Kent, England) who tied for 28th (77-79-79-235) to pace the Sharks.

Tournament host Florida Tech (301-302-301=904), were runners up to NSU, Barry University (306-301-301=908) finished third, while the University of Tampa (307-297-306=910) came in fourth. Florida Southern College (315-299-299=913) and Lynn University (305-302-306=913) tied for fifth place, while Rollins College (311-313-313=937), Saint Leo University (321-312-312=945) and Eckerd College (323-309-318=950) rounded out the nine-team field.

NSU previously captured the 2005 SSC Men's Golf Championship, in their first year of eligibility for conference championships since joining the SSC in 2002.
