Norman, Okla. (May 25, 2007) - Nova Southeastern University men's golf freshman Eric Cole (Orlando, Fla.) has been named to the NCAA Division II PING All-South Region Team today by the Golf Coaches Association Of America.
Members of the PING All-Region teams are eligible for PING All-American honors, to be declared following the NCAA Division II Championships.
Cole was honored as the Sunshine State Conference Freshman of the Year and named First Team All-Conference. He finished the spring season with an individual national ranking of 43 among Division II golfers and No. 10 in the South Region. He placed in the top ten in three tournaments, including second place finishes in the 2007 Men's SSC Tournament and the Matlock Collegiate Classic. Cole concluded the season with a 73.78 scoring average in 27 rounds.
All-Region teams are selected by GCAA regional advisory committees based on their season long play. Any player ranked in the top 50 nationally according to the GolfStat individual ranking will be automatically added to his All-Region team.
