Women’s Basketball Drops SSC Opener To Rollins, 87-61

WINTER PARK, Fla. –
The Nova Southeastern University women’s basketball team (6-2 overall, 0-1 SSC) dropped its first conference game to the Rollins Tars (8-0 overall, 1-0 SSC), 87-61, at the Warden Arena on Saturday afternoon.

After shooting 47 percent from the field in the first half, the Sharks stumbled from the field hitting only 24 percent of its shots, totaling 34 for the game.

Senior center Stephanie Sarosi (Mims, Fla.) finished with 20 points as NSU’s lead scorer hitting 8-for-13 from the field.

The Tars leading scorer, Jasmine Bradley, finished with 23, scoring 15 of her points in the first five minutes of the game.

Down 35-18, the Sharks went on a 19 to 3 run to pull within one late in the half.

Eventually the Sharks closed the Tars lead to one with 20 seconds left in the first half but the Sharks headed into the locker room down by three as the Tars hit two free throws down the stretch.

After keeping it close in the first half the Sharks were outscored in the second half, 47-24.

In the second half, the Tars stepped up shooting 41 percent (14-for-34) from the field.

The Sharks will take a two week hiatus before they host Franklin Pierce in the Cruzin Classic on Dec. 17th at 6 p.m. in the NSU Arena in the Don Taft University Center.
