FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women’s basketball team will host Delta State on Monday night at 7 p.m., with the winner being crowned South Region champions and moving on to the Elite Eight of the 2013 NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship tournament.

Just as it was for the first two Shark regional wins (87-60 over Clark Atlanta on Friday, and 73-57 over Rollins Saturday), NSU will offer the promotion that any faculty, staff or student wearing NSU gear and presenting their Shark card at the box office will receive free admission to Monday's game (one free ticket per Shark card).

In addition, the NSU campus will be host to two big events throughout Monday. At noon, in the UC Pit, there will be a pep rally, and at 6 p.m. in Shark Circle, a tailgate. Both gatherings will feature contests and prizes.

The No. 3-seeded Lady Statesmen (21-9) had little trouble getting into Monday’s championship, dispatching North Alabama Friday afternoon, 51-41, and then on Saturday, winning by the biggest margin in the regional thus far, as they topped Alabama-Huntsville, 81-58. DSU center Seneca Walton had double-doubles in each win (15 points and 11 rebounds in round one, 12 and 14 in round two).

In the second game Saturday night, NSU avenged their elimination by Rollins in the Sunshine State Conference Championships, winning by 16. Meixandra Porter (Sr., Chantilly, Va.) led the Sharks in scoring for the third straight game (and sixth of the last seven) with 20 points, while Taylor Buie (Fr., Puyallup, Wash.) followed up 16 against Clark Atlanta with 15 more on Saturday.

This will be the first meeting ever between these two schools, with the winner heading to San Antonio to face the West Region victor on March 26.
