LAKELAND, Fla.
– The No. 1 Nova Southeastern women’s golf team captured their sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth with a second-place finish today at the NCAA Super Regional, shooting a 40-over-par 904 (298-306-300). This opportunity gives the Sharks a chance to make NCAA golf history by capturing their fifth consecutive national championship.

With the top three teams earning the right to advance to the National Championships at LPGA International, the Sharks and conference rivals Barry and Lynn battled to the end to claim those three spots. The three-team shuffle was consistent throughout the tournament with the Sharks claiming second to Lynn, who shot a 36-over (305-298-297—900), and finishing ahead of Barry, who shot a 43-over (312-294-301—907).

Flirting at the top of the leaderboard the entire tournament was Linnea Johansson (Fr., Vaxjo, Sweden), who finished her final round with an even-par 72 to make her 4-over (71-77-72—220) for the tournament, slotting her second on the leaderboard of the 49-golfer field. Johansson fell short of the top spot by three strokes to Annie Dulman of Rollins, who shot a 1-over-par 217 (74-73-70).

Carding the second-best finish for the Sharks was Abbey Gittings (Sr., Tamworth, England), who shot a 4-over 76 on the final day to finish the tournament at 10-over (77-73-76—226). That score slotted her seventh on the leaderboard.

Next for the Sharks were Daniela Ortiz (So., Morelia, Mexico) and teammate Liliana Cammisa (So., Alta Gracia, Argentina). Ortiz finished the tournament with a share of eighth, shooting an 11-over (73-78-76—227), finishing with a 4-over 76 on Tuesday. Cammisa also shot a final round 4-over (76), which was her lowest score of the tournament, giving her a share of 19th at 15-over (77-78-76—231).

Rachel Lewis (Jr., Cardiff, Wales) finished out the day for NSU, shooting a 30-over total (86-79-81—246), which slotted her 44th on the leaderboard. Lewis finished her final round by shooting a 9-over-par 81.

The Sharks will be back in action next week, May 15-18, defending their four national titles in the hunt for their fifth consecutive championship at the LPGA International in Daytona, Fla.
