FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Following a two-week competition break after hosting the annual Guy Harvey Invitational, the Nova Southeastern men's and women's golf teams are each back in action on different coasts this upcoming Monday and Tuesday.
Both teams are coming off of success at home as well, with runner-up finishes in the GHI. The No. 3 women, who have been third or better in all three fall events thus far, finished eight strokes off the team lead with freshman
Mailen Domecq Chantry (Mar del Plata, Argentina) placing in a tie for third. The second-ranked men shot even-par and placed six individuals in the top 20, led by
Santiago Gomez (Jr., Armenia, Colombia) tying for second and
Richard Mansell (So., Staffordshire, England) tying for ninth.
The women will stay in the Eastern Time Zone (for an 8:45 a.m. start each day) and wrap up the fall portion of their season as they compete for the second straight year at Campbell's Fighting Camel Classic. The two-day tournament (36 holes Monday, 18 holes Tuesday) will take place at the Keith Hills Country Club in Buies Creek, North Carolina, a par-72, 6,026-yard course. Last year, the Sharks finished seventh in a field of 11, but every other team competing came from Division I. This year will be similar, with eight of 10 teams coming from DI, with the only exceptions being NSU and Carson-Newman.
The men will travel west, all the way to Seaside, California, for the Otter Invitational. An 18-team field, including fellow Sunshine State Conference school Barry, will play at the Bayonet and Blackhorse Golf Course (par-72, 7,024 yards) for the fourth annual event hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay. It will be the next-to-last tournament for the men this fall.
Both events will have live scoring, at the respective links at this top of this page.
