FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 12 Nova Southeastern University women's basketball team welcomes the Shaw Bears into the NSU Arena, with Monday afternoon's game tipping off at 2 p.m.

The Sharks (5-2) are coming off their second loss of the year, by one point to now-No. 5 Tampa, 76-75. After losing two in a row, the Bears (5-3) have bounced back with back-to-back wins, over Francis Marion and Wingate.

Currently, NSU is led by Danielle Robinson's (Sr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) 16.6 points per game, which would rank her second in the SSC with one more game played. She led the way against Tampa with 19 points, had the team high of six assists against only one turnover, and tallied five rebounds and three steals. The senior guard was 6-of-12 from the field and buried three 3-pointers in five attempts.

Monaye Merritt (R-Jr., Philadelphia) had 18 points and seven rebounds last time out, and is second on the team and fifth in the conference at 14.4 points per game. Her 4.9 assists in second in the SSC, and she is third in steals (and 17th nationally) at 3.3. Jasmine Wilkins (R-Sr., Miami) leads the nation in field goal percentage at 67.2 percent, while Kayla Wright's (So., Lauderhill, Fla.) 64.5 percent is fifth in the league and seventh nationally. Wilkins' 1.7 blocked shots per game ties for the conference lead as well.

Shaw is led by 6-4 senior center Verdine Warner, who averages 24.6 points and 12.5 rebounds a game, ranking second and ninth in the nation, respectively. Her point and rebounding lines the last three games have been 36/15, 29/20 and 23/11, and in addition, she's also in the top 10 in DII in field goal shooting (fifth at 65.0 percent).

These two teams met here at the NSU Arena in last year's Shark Invitational, a 103-85 win by No. 4 NSU over No. 24 Shaw. Four Sharks scored 20 or more: Taylor Buie (Jr., Puyallup, Wash.) with 21 to lead the way (including 5-of-6 3-pointers), with the trio of Amanda Burakoski, Richelle Carach and Robinson each notching 20.

Wilkins chipped in with 18 points, and Jessica Russi tied her own school record with 15 assists. The Sharks shot 55 percent from the field and were even better from behind the arc (17-30, 56.7%). Shaw was led by Bryann Guyton's 27, while Micah Brooks added 24 points and nine rebounds.
