FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 6 Nova Southeastern women's basketball team looks to rebound from just their second loss of the season as they take their shortest road trip of the year to face Barry on Wednesday night in Miami Shores, Fla., with tipoff at 7:30 p.m.

The Sharks (20-2, 10-2 SSC) overcame a 17-point second-half deficit to tie then-No. 18 Rollins, but fell in overtime, 74-71 on Saturday. The loss dropped the team a half-game behind 10-3 Tampa for first place in the conference standings, with the Sharks playing four more games compared to Tampa's three. They will face each other this upcoming Saturday, with the possibility of first place on the line.

That being said, NSU will definitely not overlook border rival Barry (13-9, 5-7 SSC), who nearly upended the team on their home floor in Fort Lauderdale on Jan. 15 (and won the game between the two teams last season in Miami Shores). The Sharks survived the upset bid in a two-point victory, 78-76. The Bucs were up six with 7:48 to go before Jasmine Wilkins (R-Jr., Miami) scored the first eight in a 10-2 run to give NSU the lead for good.

Then, even though the Sharks were up seven with 1:06 left and Barry cut it to one with seven seconds left, Richelle Carach (Sr., Naples, Fla.) made 1-of-2 free throws, and the Bucs were unable to get a shot off to tie or win the game.

Wilkins led NSU on the afternoon with 20 points, Jessica Russi (Sr., Lake Mary, Fla.) added a season-high 18 and Carach had 12. Kayla Richardson paced Barry with 20 while Tyler Hardy added 19 and nine rebounds.

Hardy has been one of the league's top players this season, currently ranking second in both scoring (19.3) and rebounding (8.3) and sixth in field goal percentage (53.0). Backcourt mate Collette Eule is also in double digits in points at 14 per game, while ranking second in the SSC in 3-point percentage (41.7). She and Ines Kerin each make 2.1 3's a contest, tying for fifth in the conference, while Kerin's assist average of 4.6 is fourth-best.

The rest of the women's SSC slate will be completed at about the time the Sharks and Bucs tip off at 7:30. Tampa hosts Eckerd, Lynn travels to play Rollins, and Saint Leo will be on the road to face Florida Southern, all at 5:30. Florida Tech is idle on Wednesday.
