No. 1 Men's Golf Begins Play at DII National Championships on Monday

20 squads are competing to move on to medal/match play as last team standing

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 1 Nova Southeastern University men's golf team begins their quest for a National Championship when the first of three days of stroke play tees off this Monday, May 18, in Conover, North Carolina.
 
Twenty teams will first compete for 54 holes of normal tournament play, 18 each from Monday to Wednesday on the par-71, 7,021-yard Jones Course at Rock Barn Golf and Spa. The top eight teams will then move on to seeded medal/match play (based on their finish after the first three rounds, and in team vs. team competition), beginning Thursday with both the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds,before the champion is determined the following day, May 22.
 
The No. 1 Sharks, as designated by the Golfstat Relative Rankings (while having sat in that same position atop the Bushnell Golfweek DII Coaches Poll for the last seven weeks), are one of six South/Southeast Region teams to qualify, all ranked in the nation's top 12: No. 2 USC-Aiken, No. 3 Lynn, No. 4 Barry, No. 10 Saint Leo and No. 12 Florida Southern.

The Sharks' fivesome will be made up of the same group that led the team to the South/Southeast Super Regional championship:
Santiago Gomez (Jr., Armenia, Colombia), Oscar Lengdèn (Sr., Helsingborg, Sweden), Richard Mansell (So., Staffordshire, England), Ethan Marcus (Fr., Boca Raton, Fla.) and Priyanshu Singh (Fr., Delhi, India). They will go off on Hole No. 1 of the Jones Course, from 7:30 to 8:14 a.m, and live scoring for stroke play rounds only can be viewed HERE.
