No. 22 Women's Basketball on the Road Again, Saturday at FIT

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women's basketball team continues on the road this weekend as it heads to Melbourne, Fla. to take on the Florida Tech Panthers on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

On Wednesday evening, the No. 22 Sharks won their fifth straight contest, 71-46 over Barry. For the third game in a row, Christen Prasse topped all Sharks in scoring with 15 points, her fifth double-digit scoring effort of the season, which is a team-best. Prasse also added eight rebounds and a game-high seven assists. Maria Bardeeva and Megan Piggott joined Prasse in double-digit figures, each putting up 11 points apiece. Bardeeva collected six rebounds while Piggott connected on three three-point shots. Samantha Logan pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds and almost made it a double-double with nine points scored.

Offensively, NSU is ranked in the top four of all categories in the Sunshine State Conference and holds the No. 1 spot in free-throw percentage (75.9 percent). The Sharks' 45.4 percent from the field is good enough for the second spot in the conference and No. 23 nationally.

Individually, the duo of Prasse and Logan hold multiple No. 1 ranks in the conference. Prasse holds the lead in assists (45) and assists per game (6.4) as well as a conference-best 50 percent field goal percentage. Logan sees her name at the top of the list in rebounds (73) and rebounds per game (10.4) while also tallying the most double-doubles out of any SSC player so far in 2016 (two).

The Panthers will enter Saturday's contest with an overall record of 5-2 and a league record of 1-2 after being edged by Rollins, 72-67, on Wednesday at home. Shequana Harris leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.4 points per game, putting her in fourth place overall in the league, .5 ppg behind Prasse in third with 14.9. Julie McCarthy pulls down 8.6 boards per game, ranking second in the league behind Logan.
