FINAL RESULTS
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The No. 5 Nova Southeastern University men's golf team will look to carry the momentum of a win in Tuesday's regular season finale into the postseason, as they took the Buccaneer Invitational by four strokes and had two individuals tie for third place.
The Sharks' comeback victory came courtesy of a final round 283 to defeat runner-up Lynn 846 to 850. The team's quintet was remarkably consistent on Tuesday, all shooting between a 1-under 70 and a 1-over 72. The two lowest both shot par to wrap:
Hunter O'Mahony (Sr., Jupiter, Fla.) and
Priyanshu Singh (So., Delhi, India). At 210, the duo finished just two strokes out of the lead.
Juan Jose Guerra (Fr., Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) and
Santiago Gomez (Sr., Armenia, Colombia) both finished in the top 20. Guerra was 1-over and totaled a 213 for 13th place; Gomez was 1-under, and his 70 moved him up 10 slots to 17th at 214.
Richard Mansell (Jr., Staffordshire, England) too had a considerable move up the leaderboard, climbing 18 to 35th with an even-par showing and 218 total.
After the Sharks and Lynn were Eastern Florida State and St. Thomas Aquinas, tying for third (858). Central Missouri came in fifth at 859, one ahead of Johnson & Wales, who finished sixth after being in second at the end of Monday's first two rounds.
The Sharks next will compete at the 2016 Sunshine State Conference Championship in nearby Key Biscayne, Florida. The tournament begins Sunday, April 17, continuing through the following Tuesday, at Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne.
