FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – NSU's women's basketball team continues Sunshine State Conference play as it returns to the NSU Arena this Saturday to host Florida Southern. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
The Sharks (9-5, 5-1 SSC) are fresh off a 78-66 win over Saint Leo on the road this past Wednesday.
Megan Piggott, once again, shined for NSU offensively, tallying 26 points, making it six straight games with double-digit scoring. The sophomore connected on 13-of-15 free throws and also added three blocks and three steals.
Samantha Logan was on fire as well, registering 15 points on 62.5 percent (5-of-8) shooting from beyond the arc and field, while also recording 10 boards to seal the double-double.
Octavia Wilson joined the two in double-digit scoring, tallying 11 points to go along with seven assists and seven rebounds, both season highs.
Christen Prasse also had seven points, eight boards and six assists.
After her string of strong performances, Piggott has earned the role as the Sharks' top scorer, averaging 12.9 points per game. Her 12.9 points also rank her eighth in the entire conference. Prasse is also averaging double-digits with 11.8 and is tied for first in the league in assists per game with 4.8 on average. Logan continues to lead the SSC and NSU with her 9.6 rebounds.
FSC's (9-4, 5-1 SSC) Camille Giardina scored a career-high 28 points and Florida Southern grabbed a 73-68 win at Sunshine State Conference rival Lynn on Wednesday night. The win keeps the Mocs tied for second place in the SSC with the Sharks.
Giardina is the Mocs' leading scorer, averaging 14.8 points a game, good enough for fourth place in the conference. Anja Fuchs-Robetin is also in double-digits for Florida Southern's, with 13.3 points per game.
The Sharks hold a slight edge (18-16) in the overall series against FSC. In their most recent meeting in 2015, the Mocs scored the last four points of the game to beat NSU 63-60 in its regular season finale.
