Sharks Looking to Keep Perfect Home Record Intact Tuesday

NSU, Flagler set for first meeting of 2017

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The NSU Baseball Complex has been anything but kind to visiting opponents in the recent years as the Sharks have reached the 20-win mark at home in five of head coach Greg Brown's six seasons. Off to another stellar 5-0 start this time around, top-ranked Nova Southeastern will look to remain perfect at home when it hosts Flagler Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.

The Sharks earned all five home wins in consecutive order after opening the regular season back on February 3, but have since been on the road the last two weeks, where it captured a 14-5 'W' over Palm Beach Atlantic in their most recent outing exactly one week ago.

Continuing its incredible offensive tear thus far in 2017, Nova Southeastern recorded 19 hits in the effort to go along with three more home runs. Now with 19 dingers through their first nine games, the Sharks not only lead the Sunshine State Conference but are currently on pace for an astounding 105 for the season.

Led by first baseman Jeremy Vasquez and Dylan Woods, six players collected at least two hits in the ball game as the Sharks raised their team batting to a collective .323 overall. Vasquez finished 3-for-5 with three runs batted in, while Woods came up just a triple shy of the cycle, driving in four runs in the process. Furthermore, designated hitter Brendan Cutting launched his second long ball of the season in the fourth inning, and has already tallied nine hits this season after registering just four total throughout 2016.

Flagler has shared its own similar success to open the year, collecting wins in nine of its first 11 contests including two of three at Palm Beach Atlantic this past weekend. The Saints also picked up a 14-5 victory on the road last Wednesday at Florida Tech, giving them a strong 6-2 record versus SSC members in the early going.

Senior Jake Hathaway has paced the Flagler offense with an impressive .475 batting average through 11 games, with teammates Cole Ondrejka and Dylan Jones also hitting over .400 up to this point.

Tuesday's meeting with Flagler will be the first to be played in Fort Lauderdale, Florida since the 2009 season when the Sharks earned a three-game sweep over the Saints.
