FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women's basketball team concludes regular season action this Wednesday evening, taking on Lynn in Boca Raton at 5:30 p.m.
The Sharks (16-10, 11-6 SSC) have already earned their Sunshine State Conference postseason slot, regardless of Wednesday's result. NSU is sitting in the No. 4 spot in the league currently, and are a half-game ahead of the Tampa Spartans, sitting in fifth with a 10-6 conference record with two games to go. With NSU holding the tie-breaker over Tampa, a win on Wednesday night would secure home-court advantage for the Sharks in the first round of the SSC Tournament on Wednesday, Mar. 1.
Earlier this season in December, the Sharks defeated the Fighting Knights at the Rick Case Arena, 75-71, with a career-high 30 points poured in by
Megan Piggott.
Samantha Logan also laid in a career high with 18 points, while shooting 6-of-10 from the field, while
Maria Bardeeva dropped a career-high 14 off the bench, also with six made field goals, as well as four rebounds.
Amanda Tivenius led the team with 10 rebounds, the first double-digit output of her career.
Lynn has dropped its last four games, all against SSC opponents, and currently sit at 10-14 overall and 4-12 in the league. The Knights are led by junior guard Paola Vazquez Concepcion, who averages 15.2 points a game, fourth best in the league.
After a 22-point performance by
Christen Prasse in an 83-53 victory over Saint Leo on Saturday, Prasse continues to be the Sharks' leading scorer, averaging 11.7 points per game. The junior also leads NSU and the league in assists with 4.5.
