FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University women's basketball team, currently on a four-game winning streak, will look to avenge its earlier-season loss to the Florida Tech Panthers this Saturday afternoon in the Rick Case Arena. The game is scheduled to kick off at 2:00 p.m.
The Panthers (9-10, 4-8 SSC) handed the Sharks (14-7, 10-3 SSC) their first Sunshine State Conference loss of the year in December, a 57-46 affair in FIT's Clemente Center.
Cheray Saunders led the way for Sharks with 10 points while
Christen Prasse and
Samantha Logan contributed nine and eight points, respectively. Logan also recorded seven rebounds, and Barnard and
Megan Piggott each scored seven points.
FIT had two in double digits as Shequana Harris and Markeema Crawford recorded 18 and 11 points, respectively.
This past Wednesday, the Sharks secured the No. 2 spot in the SSC standings with a 79-65 victory over the PBA Sailfish. Prasse led the Sharks in scoring with a total of 20 points after going a career-high 10-of-11 from the line. Prasse also added eight rebounds (all defensive), seven assists and three steals in what could arguably be defined as one of the best nights of her career.
Katie Barnard also had a career-high on Wednesday night with 10 boards, and added eight points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting.
Octavia Wilson and
Amanda Tivenius were also in double-digits with 11 points apiece, and Tivenius tacked on three steals. Saunders tallied seven points to go along with five assists, while Logan had nine points, six boards and three assists.
After her stellar performance on Wednesday, Prasse has become the Sharks newest points-per-game leader with 11.2. The junior also remains the league's leader in assists with an average of 4.7 per game. Logan continues to stay at the top of the rebounding list, averaging a conference-leading 9.0 boards per game and 6.7 defensive rebounds per game average.
