HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Nova Southeastern sat in fourth through round one, yet climbed a spot during the afternoon to remain within striking distance at the season-opening tournament. At (-12), head coach Chris Carlin's bunch finds itself eight shots behind leader Florida Southern and five behind second-place Barry.
- The trio of Juan Jose Guerra, Finlay Mason and Tomas Millet each finished the day tied for 12th at three-under par. Guerra closed with two birdies over the final three holes of round two, pairing a 69 with his opening-round 72. Mason, meanwhile, set the tone by opening the tournament with a sizzling (-5) 67 in round one. The junior sunk six birdies during the morning session, but it was his eagle on No. 17 that highlighted the impressive effort. Millet ran into a bit of trouble with three bogeys over his last six holes in the first round. However, he would put a halt to his troubles and pieced together a (-2) 70 in round two to keep pace with his teammates.
- Three straight birdies to close round one ignited a round-two score of 70 for Martin Larrea, lifting him into a share of 17th at two-under par.
- Khush Patel rounded out the lineup by combining rounds of 72 and 73 to hold onto a tie for 31st.
