DeLAND, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women's tennis team got back in action at the Stetson Invitational on Friday at the Hatters' Mandy Stoll Tennis Center. Facing the Division I host Stetson Hatters, the Sharks earned seven victories across four doubles matches and six singles matches.
Doubles Play
First-year sophomore transfer
Celia Montero Estevan (Santiago de Compostela, Spain) teamed with
Diane Follin-Arbelet (Lyon, France) to sweep Jordan King and Lilli Wiedenmann, 6-0 in the third flight of doubles. Seniors
Daniela Obando (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) and
Isabella Lowrey (Miami, Fla.) also rolled past Vicky Geurinckx and Olivia Talbert, 6-1, in the second flight. Rounding out a trio of wins in doubles, sophomore
Caitlyn Khan (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and junior
Ivana Djordjevic (Novi Sad, Serbia) delivered a 6-4 victory over Megan Horwitz and Anna Dovgopoli in the fourth flight.
Singles Play
Obando also gutted out the 6-3, 7-6 (6) victory over Geurinckx in No. 2 singles as well, while Lowrey went 6-0, 6-0 over King to go perfect on the day in No. 6 singles. Montero Estevan rallied to a 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 win over Wiedenmann in the fifth flight. Follin-Arbelet knocked off Olivia Talbert, 5-7, 7-5, 10-4 in fourth-flight singles.
